Measuring Your Pool

When it comes to protecting your pool during the colder months, choosing the right winter debris cover is essential. To ensure a proper fit that keeps your pool clean and safe, follow these steps to measure your pool accurately.

Step 1: Determine the Pool Shape

Before measuring, identify your pool’s shape, as covers are designed to fit specific configurations. Common shapes include:

  • Rectangular
  • Oval
  • Kidney-shaped
  • Freeform

For irregular shapes, you may need a custom cover.

Step 2: Measure Pool Dimensions

Accurate measurements are crucial to ensure the cover provides adequate overlap for securing the edges. Here’s how to measure different pool shapes:

Rectangular Pools

  1. Measure the Length: Use a tape measure to find the longest distance from one end of the pool to the other.
  2. Measure the Width: Measure the widest part of the pool.
  3. Add Extra Length and Width: Add at least 3 feet to each dimension (1.5 feet on each side) to account for the overlap needed to secure the cover. This ensures the cover fits properly and stays in place during harsh weather.

Oval Pools

  1. Measure the Length: Take the longest dimension from end to end.
  2. Measure the Width: Measure at the widest point.
  3. Add Overlap: Like rectangular pools, add at least 3 feet to each measurement to ensure proper coverage.

Kidney-Shaped or Freeform Pools

  1. Divide the Pool into Sections: Imagine your pool divided into two or three segments and measure each section’s length and width.
  2. Note the Widest and Longest Points: Record the longest and widest measurements for each section.
  3. Create a Sketch: A rough sketch of the pool shape, with dimensions noted, can help when ordering a custom cover.

Step 3: Account for Additional Features

If your pool has any special features like ladders, handrails, or a diving board, factor these into the measurements. These features might require custom cutouts or additional material to ensure full coverage.

Step 4: Consider Anchoring Requirements

Winter debris covers often come with anchoring systems that secure the cover around the pool. Measure the surrounding area to ensure you have enough space to install anchors.

Step 5: Consult with our team

When ordering, share all measurements, sketches, and any unique details about your pool’s layout with our expert team. This ensures you receive a cover that fits perfectly and can withstand winter weather conditions.
