Last year we wrote a thorough blog post talking about the different winter pool cover options, so it’s time for our updated guide to satisfy all your summer pool cover needs!
Keep reading to learn about the differences between summer and winter pool covers and the different summer pool cover options available.
Do I need a different pool cover for each season?
Not all pool covers are created with the same intentions and chances are your winter pool cover will have very different features from a summer pool cover.
Many winter covers are designed to be in place for several months, made of a much thicker material designed to keep debris and leaves out, therefore keeping your pool water sanitary. Summer covers, however, are created with the intention of the pool being used frequently throughout the season, meaning they need to be lighter for portability.
All pool covers are designed to keep in the heat, creating a barrier between the water’s surface and surrounding air to reduce evaporation.
What different types of summer pool covers are there?
At Go Aqua, we offer a range of pool covers from safety covers to solar-powered options.
Whenever we fit a pool cover, we will visit the site to discuss your needs and measure the area to check that the cover is perfect. We will then choose the best material to suit your requirements and ensure the installation goes swimmingly.
The diagram below shows the different standardised pool shapes and how these are measured. Visit our pool cover page to learn more.
How do solar panel covers work?
Solar panel covers contain PV cells which absorb sunlight and convert this into a current, powering the circuit. The covers will provide clean energy to heat your pool, as well as being a barrier for heat evaporation during the night.
There are many benefits to using solar-powered technology for your pool, including:
- The energy produced is clean and doesn’t rely on fossil fuels
- They work during overcast weather and power outages
- There’s no cost involved past the initial investment
- You won’t be affected by the rising energy costs.
