Pool Cleaning and Chemical Treatment
Chemicals are essential to keeping your pool water sanitary and safe but so often people forget to keep on track of this. It’s essential to check your pH and alkalinity levels and adjust with increasers or decreasers as needed. Staying at the correct levels will avoid causing damage to your equipment/pool shell, as well as keep your guests safe and comfortable while in the water.
We have recently published a guide on pool chemicals and their uses, so read through our latest blog if you would like to learn more.
When adding the correct chemicals needed, make sure you follow the process as described. Often, people will add shock treatment into the pool water directly, without mixing it before putting it into the pool. This is especially important if you have a vinyl pool liner, as these are susceptible to damage.
Refer to our article for a full guide to testing your pool’s water chemistry.

Carrying out a thorough pool clean
For a general overlook, we recommend using the following steps as a guide to your maintenance routine:
1) Keep your water clean and clear.
2) Vacuum up any debris regularly.
3) Clean the skimmer and pump baskets.
4) Clean out your filters often.
However, cleaning shouldn’t stop here! Beyond your regular steps, you should always make sure to clean any pool accessories (such as pool toys, which can easily store bacteria), the area surrounding the pool and everything in between! Many people will think that a pool vacuum is enough for the surface of the pool itself, but dirt can build up between the crevices and corners too, where a vacuum can’t reach. Make sure you brush the sides to avoid this.
